The Roth 401(k) is a tax-savvy retirement plan that is being virtually ignored by employers these days.

Of course, like any benefit, employers don't have to provide the Roth 401(k). Yet the long-term rewards of the Roth are reason enough to lobby your boss to offer you this new plan, a most potent nest egg builder.

I can understand why the plan isn't a favorite of benefits departments. It's another source of expense, paperwork, education and compliance headaches. And IRS guidelines on it are still pending.

Maybe that's why only about 18 percent of U.S. companies surveyed said they will offer the Roth 401(k) when it becomes legal on Jan. 1, according.....
