I already have about 80k in traditional 401k. If I stop contributing to it and start fresh with roth 401k, will that cause slowdown in interest buildup since I won't be contributing to the larger amount now but to a smaller startup amount? Thanks

Interest is interest. If you are earning 8% interest on 80K here and 8% on 20K over there, it is the same as earning 8% on 100K...only difference is your growth will not be taxed with the Roth.
